About Mic Drop Press
Most publishing services are run by people who've always worked in publishing. I'm not one of them — and that's exactly why you should read this.
My name is Morgan Sutherland. In 2014, I was a licensed massage therapist with a busy practice, a blog full of posts about back pain and posture, and a growing sense that the knowledge I was giving away for free deserved to be a book. So I took those posts, shaped them into a manuscript, and hired a publishing company to help me launch it.
They took my money. Then they closed down. Investment non-refundable.
I could have walked away. Instead, I got angry enough to figure it out myself. I found Amazon's CreateSpace — now Kindle Direct Publishing — and started learning everything: formatting, cover design, keyword strategy, categories, pricing, launch sequencing. All of it, from scratch, alongside a full clinical practice. That first book led to a second. Then a series. Then audiobooks. Then Spanish editions. Eleven years later, I have 21 published titles on Amazon under my own name, with real reviews and real readers.
I didn't come from publishing. I came from getting burned by it — and deciding that was never going to happen to me again.
Here's what that experience taught me: the people who most deserve a book are usually the last ones to publish one. Practitioners, clinicians, coaches, consultants, experts of every kind — they're sitting on years of hard-earned knowledge that most writers could never replicate. But they don't have time to figure out what I figured out the hard way. And too many of them hand their trust and their money to companies that don't deliver.
A book is the ultimate business card. It opens doors that a website, a LinkedIn profile, and a decade of networking can't. But only if it's done right — if it actually sounds like you, looks credible on a shelf and on Amazon, and is positioned to reach the people you want to reach.
That's what Mic Drop Press does. I work with a small number of clients at a time — authorities, experts, and influencers who are serious about publishing something they're proud of. We either shape content you already have, or we build the manuscript together through structured interviews. Either way, you get a finished, professional book built on real publishing experience — not a sales pitch from a company that might not exist next year.
I know what this process takes. I've done it 21 times, and I learned it the expensive way so you don't have to.
If you're ready to stop sitting on your expertise, let's talk.
